Packing with kids

The best thing I ever started to do is when packing for camping or anything with the monkeys I made sure I packed

-one outfit
-one pair of undies
-one pair of socks

I pack all this in one large ziploc and actually put both kids in one ziploc.

Why do I do this? So easy to keep organized. Also this helps daddy. Daddy can open one ziploc and have everything he needs to dress both kids.

Anyone else's baby daddy have a hard time choosing outfits for the kids. Makes me giggle that he even gets stressed about dressing beckham. He's just a miniature man. Jeans&t-shirt-voila.

Anyways this just makes life easy peasy wonderful in the mornings! Especially while camping! Cheers to a long weekend camping with family and dear friends!

8th Anniversary

We kinda went all out this year.
By all out I mean really relaxed and just the perfect mix of casual and fun.

On our actually anniversary we didn't celebrate till after the kids went to bed.
I had made chocolate covered strawberries and bought Brent a pie from Krause. I set up some of our furniture in the shade so we could just relax and chit chat (chit chat is my love language)

Then the next day Grandma and Grandpa blessed us with taking the monkeys overnight (such a treat!)

We went downtown around 3pm. Parked in Stanley park and walked up to robson and had dinner and did some shopping. After shopping we grabbed a Starbucks and headed back to Stanley park got our blankets and sweaters and did a few trails and found a spot for the fireworks.

Guess what we did next? Blanket chit chat while waiting for the fireworks. I love chit chatty time with my man. Ask him! I could chat for hourrrrrrs haha.

Im a pretty low maintenance girl. I've become more high maintenance. I upped my 'bedtime goals' in the last year. I told Brent on the way home. Don't let me fall asleep before  using a 'bum wipe' to take off my mascara or going pee (I hate waking up in the middle of the night because I didn't go pee before bed haha!) we got home at 11:30 and my oh my we were pooped. Way past this old ladies bedtime. Let's just say I past out with only having done half of my 'goals'.

Was a fab fab night.
Thanks to a wonderful grandma and grandpa taking our babies for us!!!

Also isn't this skirt so fun! Felt like I was wearing pjs all night!!!

Oh and I totally bought Brent a tesla for our anniversary. I'm that cool of a wife.

Manicures by Audrey

Audrey wanted to give me 'Elsa nails'. Sometimes there is no reason to say no. She was full of glee painting her heart out. Giving me sparkles upon sparkles. The very essence of princess nails was absolutely captured. Our conversation during mani time was all about our friend 'mr.slug' in the jar beside us. Apparently slugs are friends and they like to come inside (that's not happening haha!)

Stars and moon watching with Daddy

Audrey and Beckham go to bed a 7.
The sun shines almost every night till 10:30...as it has for months it seems.

Audrey has been obsessed with the stars and moon.
'Why is it not dark at bedtime?'
'When are they coming back?'
'Can I see the stars and moon?'
'What is the moon like?'

These are akme of her recent questions. At bedtime she often asked 'can I see the stars tonight'. It was so endearing. It was curiosity not the manipulation to stay up late. We honestly tried so many time to find a time to wake her up and show her the stars and moon.

The truth.
We don't often stay up past 10pm
When we do....
It had been cloudy.
Finally we found a night that was clear and the moon was bright. Audrey and daddy has a midnight date to go see the moon and stars. Needless to say it meant the world to her and she's been chatting about it ever since.

It's these special moments that they may not remember but we will cherish forvever.

Some clouds

When the clouds come out after lots of 27-32 degree days-my kids think it's winter. For real. They were pretending it was winter with toques and gloves (sock gloves) and making 'sand snowmen' hhaha that's what 23 degree weather feels like to them. When winter comes it may break there hearts as much as it breaks mine.

Save on laundry

This summer much to daddy's dismay I enforced a new policy. Nudie while picking. In other terms...no cloths while picking berries. We have lots of cherry, blackberries and gooseberry bushes. It was slaughtering my heart spending hours removing berry stains.

Simple alternative. Nudie while picking. The kids shout it and strip before picking berries.

Also I must add. All this outdoor berries & veggies has totally saved our food bill and my time. They pretty much take care of snack time themselves by picking what they are craving.

How many years do I have of 'nudie while picking' hahaha I guess until they are better at not covering there entire body in berry juice

The prayer of a introvert

Let me start with saying he learned it from his sister. Every nap, meal, snack,  bedtime this is his prayer.

Dear Jesus
No mommy bye bye
No daddy bye bye
No Audrey bye bye
No beckham bye bye
AMEN (shouted!!!!)

I'm pretty sure he's trying to tell me something hahaha.

Audrey's prayers lately

Dear Jesus
Thank you for the fun
Please help mommy to not go on a date with daddy. Please make mommy not go grocery shopping. Can daddy not work? Thank you that tomorrow we do craft and play outside. I love you Jesus and hope that you will be my best friend. Maybe tomorrow we can talk about Jesus dieing?
AMEN

*laughter laughter laughter*
I can barely keep it together these monkeys and there prayers. Hahahh

Lil white bum

I can't forget the lil white bum. Such a cute bum!

Hair revamp

So once...maybe twice a year I get my hair cut...and maybe dyed. This time I did something brave. I went more blonde in my ombré. While it's not as drastic as I'd hoped I'm on the road to sometime thing wild.
My hair before my appt.
My hair after appt.
The above is what it actually looks like in light.

The above is what I want my end result to be!! Bah, I'm crazy!!

Ombré = spiral fro perm

Sooo. Remember back combed bangs, wild perms from the 80s & 90s?

I'm pretty sure ombré is the new wild perm.

I'm pretty sure my kids are going to mock me when they see pictures.

I want to state for the record that this is on Brent.
I was going to go back to a solid dark color. He said 'no no no I like the ombré' so when I look back in horror and get teased it's all on him from this point on.
Don't get me wrong, I love the ombré. I'm just quite aware that it'll be one of those head shakers....bahaha. The price of being 'trendy' I suppose. I guess that's better then being a frumpy & dated mom.

Marriage with a two year old

This is what marital conversations look like when you have a two year old.
