Audrey loves bob...

Don't worry Keenan Bob is to old for Audrey. She's just her 'celebrity crush'

Audrey is getting good at watching 15mins here and there of a movie. I love it. Gives me time to SHOWER!

She may have painted nails but she can still be a beautiful Tom boy !

Amazing Race:elimination 1

Ok, so in regards to our 'amazing race competition' one of our teams got eliminated. That means the 'senior converse team' is ahead in terms of how many teams they chose are left.

This weeks (Sunday) we said goodbye to Ron and Tony

We chose our teams blindly. All we did is read a survey each team took. In the survey they sounded very athletic, wise, competitive and smart. In reality they were quite arrogant, directionally challenged and not a strong choice. So funny because they were actually our first choice. I would have thought they would have been a good choice. Did they deserve to go home? I guess ( in my heart I say nah). I was sadly hoping Nick and Vicky would get 'the boot' they are also one of our picks (snap) they just bug me though...I'm sure there time will come soon...

I guess I should cheer for my team...;)

Best bud or enemy...?

Audrey has 'discovered' this moving wonder. Brent and I love to call this wonder Prada. Not the brand, not a pair of shoes or purse. Instead this is our lovable pooch named Prada. She's adorable and lovable. She is also showing bountiful amounts if patience with our dear Audrey.

Audrey and Prada in the early weeks could be found laying on a blanket or playmat chilling together. Now that our firecracker is on the move Prada is less inclined to always chill with her. Often she gets her eyes poked...tail sucked on. Audrey is always yanking on her. Prada is 'chill' about it. Brent and I laugh and encourage there interaction. If left unsupervised Prada will take advantage of Audrey. We'll often walk in to Prada standing over Audrey. Audrey two hand grabbing Prada's face and Prada showering Audrey in face licks. (sick)! Audrey doesn't mind...just a lil unsanitary. Also when Audrey learns to 'kiss' we don't want her taking after her sister Prada and licking everyone when they want a baby kiss. Ha ha.

Best buds or enemies...let's hope it stays best buds!

What I did during naptime

:( boo
Audrey had a cold so I did all the laundry except the folding part...I hate getting behind in chores. I'm usually diligent. Today I feel like I'm burried alive...in laundry

I never have this happen. I feel like re-washing it all because it's all wrinkled. I guess we will just look disheveled this week on our wrinkly cloths *cringe*. Note to self, never do this again (the whole not folding as I wash part)

5+1-

•I found a new recipe for cookies that I can eat and taste good!
•I have a husband who goes above and beyond all the time. He heard me say I wanted to buy a couple new magnets so he went to six stores to find me ones I'd like. When he couldn't find any he made some cute flower ones from scratch. He made me 9!

•My amazon order came in the mail. So fun getting mail that's exciting rather then just bills. Always thought it would be cool to have a penpal.
•Audrey is starting to LOVE Prada. This is exciting and so cute! I'm pumped to watch them become best buds.
•All the new fall shows are so exciting. I know it's sad but I'm home a lot more because of Audrey and I enjoy a good show every once and awhile.

-
• It's a toss up between Audrey getting her first cold and my boots being sold out of my size in the WHOLE lowermainland...snap.

Fall Cooking-Mexican Styles

Chicken 'enchiladas'

Enchilada Sauce
1 can tomato sauce (8oz)
500 ml water
1tsp thyme
1tsp cayenne
1tsp cumin
1tsp oregano
4tsp minced garlic
4tbsp cornstarch

Boil 2 chicken breasts, them grate/shred them
Mix with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 1 can mushroom soup. And I cup of salsa (spicy or not it doesn't matter)

Put chicken mixed in sauce in wraps. Roll an put in glass bakeware. Then top with Enchilada sauce and top with some cheddar cheese!

Serious a really good and easy fall dinner. This is what were having tonight... Correction. This is what Brent is having as I'm allergic to 75% of the ingredients. I have made it before and it's good! I am enjoying smelling it today though...ha ha.

Okay, I cheated last night. I had to eat it. Felt so sick after but it was oh so good! Brent may or may not have been impressed with my cheating.

Whose on your team?

Since Audrey keeps us more grounded we decided to invest our time in a little reality tv. I've never got into it before. I always said that if I was going to choose a reality tv show to watch it would be amazing race. I am ultra competitive so I made it a Seniors against Juniors competition...(converse seniors against converse juniors)

This is our team...

Nick and Vicki

Ron and Tony

Connor and Jonathan

Brooke and Claire

Jill and Thomas

Both the sr&jr team thought Katie and Rachel were going to loose...

Go team!

Moments that make me melt

Audrey woke up early this morning. Brent decided he would go be with her so I could sleep. Its 7:10am. Go back to sleep? Or listen to Brent read Audrey snow white over the baby monitor?

Man moments like this warn my heart.

What a great man God blessed me with. He is my SUPER husband

Daddy is ...loco

This is what the dials are set to in the car when Brent starts ripping off his cloths because he's to hot...

(ps this is on a day that's rainy and 10 degrees...;) )

He may have even muttered under his breath. ' I can't wait till you're pregnant again and we both like the car cold'

Looks like Brent is ready for #2?!?

Shots...

Audrey got her first shots yesterday. Two months late I know. Mama has a soft heart and worried conscience. I've read so many books about vaccinations going wrong that I admit I was paranoid. Did waiting hurt Audrey? Nope. She's fully vaccinated and this morning when I woke up I felt good about it. Last night, well I'll tell you about it...

I made Brent come to the appointment. I was totally not strong enough to do it solo. My heart ached on the drive (I know I'm to soft, my heart is tender though.) We did the weighing and measuring etc etc.

The nurse practitioner asked who was going to hold her. Oh no. I didn't think about this. Would it traumatize her and make her think I'm the one that hurt her if I held her? In that case might as well make Brent the bad guy right? Or would she think I abandoned her if I didn't?

Overanalyze....Overanalyze...

I decided I wanted to hold her so I could comfort her. My eyes may have teared up.

Later that night my girlfriend Lauren came over. I was holding Audrey. All of a sudden I looked at Audrey and I SWEAR her eyelid looks flipped AND swollen shut. I start FREAKING out. Yelling for Brent. Shrieking that she must be allergic to the shots. Brent came over panicked from all my DRAMA. He looks at her. Looks at me.

All of a sudden she's fine??? I swear I saw what I saw. No swollen eyes no flipped eyelid. WHAT?!? Let's just say I was the butt of a few jokes last night.

She's good though. She didn't develop Autism (I made her make eye contact for most of the night...shhh don't tell Brent I'm this neurotic!) all my special Ed. Schooling has me feeling a little bonkers.

That's my story.

How I found her the morning of her shots...hopefully I will be greater by this much love everyday even when I bring her to get her shots...

First Cold

Today Audrey woke up with sniffles. She has been mushy and needy. I have to admit it warms my heart as she is usually such a busy baby I don't get that many cuddles anymore. My heart breaks for my sick baby. We had a bath while a eucalyptus candle burned. It helped a bit. Poor little girl, just come here and give mom another snuggle.

Easiest Cinnamon Rolls!

Quick Cinnamon Biscuits

Adapted from The Moosewood Collective’s “Moosewood Restaurant New Classics”

Yield: 9 biscuits

Cinnamon Sugar Filling:

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Biscuit Dough:

2 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups plus 1 tablespoon heavy cream
Icing:

6 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
4 to 6 teaspoons milk or heavy cream
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

2. For the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.

3. For the Dough: In a large bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Add 1 1/2 cups cream, and stir until the dough forms a ball, about 1 minute. With your hands, fold the dough over a few times in the bowl, until the dough is smooth

4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Lightly flour your hands, and pat the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick rectangle, about 9 X 13 inches. Brush the surface of the dough with the remaining tablespoon of cream. Sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar topping.

5. Starting from the long side, roll the dough into a cylinder. Slice into 9 equal rounds. Place the rounds, cut side down, into an ungreased 8-inch square baking dish or a pie plate. Bake for about 30 minutes, until the biscuits are lightly browned.

6. For the Icing: While the biscuits bake, mix together the confectioners’ sugar and milk or cream until smooth. When you remove the biscuits from the oven, immediately drizzle them with icing. Serve warm.

Brent says, 'I thought you were a murderer and were going to slit my throat, so that's why I ate all the baking.' I gave Brent a weird look. Brent says, ' I even slept on the couch because I was that sure you were going to kill me.' I say, 'Well I guess we'll just have tea and coffee at mom's group today...' Sorry ladies!

Extreme Shopping #2

Wow.

Saved over $88
My total spent was only $21.59 and $8 of that was tax!
I bought 4 boxes of diapers, three cosmetics, 3 dawn soaps, and two diaper wipes!

Wowzers!

Oh ya and a hot hubby, he was a gift of purchase for when I got home.

Hello my love

Hi you,
You don't know me well, yet.
I visited you today.
I touched you.
I longed for you.
I took in your fresh aroma.
I felt like I cheated on my husband with you. That is how much I like (LOVE) you.
Is it moral to care about you this much?
Am I 'bearing false idols?'
Is it bad that I want you touch my legs?
Is it bad that I think we would make a beautiful partnership?
We could be truly great.

....

It's love....

It's the same every year.

Ah, when it's cool outside and the kids go back to school. This momma is filled with lust.

It's boot season.

I found a pair that asked me to start a relationship. It's mutual. Let's just say we are 'courting'.

Ah, love.

You are so beautiful to me!

***disclaimer: before you judge me read previous blog entry. God, Brent and Audrey still come before the boots. ;)

Teething is breaking my heart.

Pumpkin Spiced up my day.

Oh teething.
Just shy of four months and it's apparent that this little monkey has some bottom teeth coming threw. I tried to take a picture of her after the tylenol but she liked it so much she kept trying to eat my phone in thinking that maybe the phone became...tylonel?

Back to pumpkin spice lattes...
Yesterday I had one. My day was long and full of tears. Not mine but Audrey's. I might have cried along with her had it not been for my morning pick me up.

Is this how coffee addiction starts. Drinking it once for a pick me up, then feeling you need it to prevent a need of a pick me up? Hope not. I'm convinced I can be a mom without being a coffee addict....
I think I can
I think I can
I think I can
I think I can

On my heart

Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)
We Wear the Mask

WE wear the mask that grins and lies,
It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—
This debt we pay to human guile;
With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,
And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries
To thee from tortured souls arise.
We sing, but oh the clay is vile
Beneath our feet, and long the mile;
But let the world dream otherwise,
We wear the mask!

-------------------------------------------

Okay, as of lately I feel like this poem speaks straight from my soul. I am my daughters mother ;) I am black and white, hot or cold, I don't like warm or gray. I live real, deep and genuine. I live meaningful and heartfelt. Sometimes all I need is a piping hot cup of tea and a good heart to heart and I can get threw all of the fakeness that the rest of the day can bring. Not that fake is bad. There is a place for it. No need to bare your soul to your Starbucks Barista but in the same way I think there is nothing more then being genuine with someone you love.

Ps

In case you don't know. This is what freaking out looks like...

10 seconds later...

She kills me. I giggle so much because she is MY daughter. She is black and white-hot or cold-0 to 100. She is our firecracker and she makes us smile and laugh at her little personality. If you're wondering why she is crying it is because she was to tired to laugh. I made a funny face accompanied with a funny noise and bam. Then bam asleep. I thought I was going to get a giggling picture, I got a little surprise instead. Bad mommy, it's not time to playtime before sleeptime.

He he he

5+ and 1-

When Brent and I first got married we would ask each other ever night, 'high/low?'
In other words, 'what was your highlight and what was your lowlight of the day?'

I think 1+ and 1- is a little to dreary!

Every Monday I'm going to try and do 5+ and 1-

So let's start

+
-Audrey hitting 11.5 hours sleep everynight consistently
-Indian food date with my hubs
-Sharing tacos with good friends on Sunday
-Brent opening my car door for me still, despite the challenges of doing so with a baby...
-Going to a church that we are passionate about

-
•Saying goodbye to our favorite little brother tonight. He's off to bibleschool. It's bittersweet. We'll miss him but we're so happy for him.

Oh dear, just nap please!

So Audrey did great yesterday! We even landed up going out with friends and doing the schedule while they were with us. She really didn't fight it.

This morning is weird. I put her down for a nap. She was almost asleep when I put her in her crib. She perked up. Starting scooting around. She layed her head down a few times. She yawned. 35 minutes later she still hasn't gone to sleep. She hasn't cried though...

When do I give up? She's not even crying. Such a silly little girl. It's like she knows about the video monitor because every once and awhile she'll stare up at it with big pouty eyes.

I wish I knew all the right answers...

7.5 hours in

Hours 5am-7:30am were a nightmare. Her first feed was schedules for 7:30am and normally that's when she wakes up. Of course today she woke up at 5:00am!

It's going better then anticipated. A lot of sad looks and really sad tears. Not as many angry ones. Its heartbreaking. Im so glad Brent is home. I'm a softy. My heart is sad. Why does scheduling make you feel like a bad parent in the beginning?

Audrey is going to melt many hearts with her big pouty eyes.

Quote of the day.

'Sheena, I don't know what to do. What are we doing?' (howls, screams, gurgles, shrieks going on in background) 'Just comfort her.' 'I don't think it's working.' 'Try and talk soothingly'. 'Its just making her angry.'

...(sheena hides under covers wondering how we'll survive...considers living a lifetime under her daughters rules)

7.5 hours till bed time...
Feeding going good
Naps going good (not as long as I thought but good)

Sleeping/feeding schedule

Brent and I decided with back to school would come a little bit of a consistent schedule for Miss Audrey. It was almost like she was asking for it with her rubbing eyes and crankiness and increased feedings.

A husband to write home about...

Okay, excuse the sap. I have to brag a little. I have the best husband. You don't know what showing love is until; you have a baby and your husband sacrifices his whole Friday evening (6:45-12) so you can go out with your girlfriends and he stays home with your fussy baby, you come home to not one but two vases filled with flowers and the bed has fresh clean sheets put on them and the dishes are done. Ah love, ah love. What a man I have.

Trial run of the new tentative schedule...

5:00 Brent
6:00 Sheena
7:00 Brent
8:00 Sheena
9:00 Brent

So Brent gets home between 3:00pm-5:00pm. That's his man time. (tentatively) Cut the grass, shower, do business etc. After that we share. The schedule show whose in charge of Audrey. Doesn't mean we don't spend the nights together. Just if Audrey is fussing that person takes charge as it's there responsibility during that time slot. This also gives me time to shower, change, tidy, cook, bake etc if I don't get it done during the day (yes, it feels like there are many days like that)

This is new, this will hopefully prevent mommy burnout. Also will help Daddy feel some love when I can have time to cook and bake better and more (I really enjoy getting the time to experiment and make new things.)

It's 6:00pm I can hear Brent coming Ha Ha Ha
